{"id":3091,"date":"2020-04-09T15:50:10","date_gmt":"2020-04-09T22:50:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3091"},"modified":"2020-04-09T18:49:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T01:49:22","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-proverbs-9-4-9-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3091","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Proverbs 9 &#8211; 4-9-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Proverbs 9 \u2013\n4-9-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The word picture given us in chapter 9 is\nthat Wisdom is like a new home that has been built, with seven beautiful\npillars.&nbsp; Most likely 7 represents the\nperfect number and shows the beauty and perfection that has gone into this home\nwisdom.&nbsp; Whenever there is a new home\nbuilt, there is always the celebration with the best foods, and mixed wine,\nwith everyone invited.&nbsp; What a wonderful\ncelebration with all invited to leave their simple ways and join in the feast\nof life, full of wisdom, discretion and insight. (verses 1-6) The contrast is\nfound in verses 13-18 where the woman of folly is described.&nbsp; She is loud, seductive, knows nothing and\nwaits at her door trying to draw people into her foolish ways of destruction.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In verse 7-12 we find the description of\nthose that receive and accept the invitation of wisdom.&nbsp; The verses that stood out to me were verses\n9-10.&nbsp; \u201cGive instruction to a wise man,\nand he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in\nlearning. 10&nbsp; The fear of the LORD is the\nbeginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.\u201d&nbsp; I am reminded that many times when someone\ntries to rebuke or correct me with words of wisdom, I usually become irritated\nand annoyed, and that is on my good days.&nbsp;\nMany times, I become resentful and angry at correction and in rebellion\nhate and turn away from wisdom.&nbsp; That is\nthe description of a foolish scoffer who abuses, injures and hates those who\ncorrect and reprove.
