Many times, I
think I have seen this verse before and tend to just read over it without
allowing it to sink in. There is a
little different structure to the verses of Proverbs 10 that I hope you pick up
on. Each verse starts off with a positive
statement about the results of God’s wisdom and word; then the second half of
the verse brings the negative affect of ignoring God’s instructions of wisdom
and truth.

Today is Good Friday. It is a time set aside to think about the
death and burial of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It may seem to be a very sad and somber remembrance, but as we look back,
we are reminded that the terrible events of the crucifixion are the birth pangs
of the resurrection. In other words, without
the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we would not be able to
enjoy right relationship with God and new life, eternal life in the salvation
provided by our Lord.

The verses in this chapter that stood out to
me today, bring me to the hope and joy of knowing the wisdom of the Lord. Proverbs 10:27-29 says, “The fear of the LORD
prolongs life, but the years of the wicked will be short. 28 The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the
expectation of the wicked will perish. 29
The way of the LORD is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to
evildoers.(ESV) As I am reminded that
the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, sometimes I forget that what
the Lord has done for me brings great rewards as I continue to walk by faith in
His light. How great is it to enjoy the
Hope of the righteousness found in Christ; the Joy of my salvation; and the
stronghold of my faith in walking in His way.
I hope that in this season of trial, struggle and hardship, I never lose
sight of greatness of what the Lord has done for me. May I know that my labor in the Lord is not
in vain and it is worth all the struggles and suffering to be found in His
Hope, Joy, and Strength.

Father, today as I remember the tremendous
sacrifice of the Lord for me, and my unworthiness to receive anything but Your
judgement. I am also reminded of Your
great love, mercy and grace that allows me to participate in the salvation and
relationship that comes through the death and burial of the Lord. Because I know that the celebration of the
Resurrection is coming, I can revel in the Hope, Joy and Strength of knowing
You. May I never forget the price that
was paid for me, and may I forever rejoice and glorify You for the benefits
that are mine through faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name, Amen!
