Hobart Herd Devotional Proverbs 14 \u2013\n4-14-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Sorry everyone, I forgot to post this\nyesterday.  I sometimes get busy and\nforget that I haven\u2019t sent the devotional out. \nYesterday was a great day surprising family in Everett with some balloons\nand flowers in celebration.  We kept our\ndistancing, but still able to leave something at the door and stand next to the\ncar and talk for about 15 minutes. \nFinding ways to keep the love flowing is challenging but fun!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Proverbs 14 is and interesting chapter hard\nto come up with a theme as it seems to jump all over the place.  However, you can\u2019t read the chapter without\nverse 12 sticking out.  I am sure we have\nheard pastors and teachers quote this verse at some point.  \u201cThere is a way that seems right to a man,\nbut its end Is the way to death.\u201d  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have\nmentioned this before in my preaching and teaching.  We are continually told to follow our hearts.  Proverbs does a great job of reminding us\nthat are hearts are desperately wicked! \nThis verse reminds me of why I need to trust in the Lord with all my\nheart and not lean on my own understanding. \nSo many times I get frustrated with the paths and ways that God takes me\nthrough.  I think to myself that if God\nwould just work the way I planned, things would be a whole lot better and faster.  I need to be reminded that my way is the way\nof death!  My sinful heart and ways blind\nme to the cliff that I am headed towards with my own direction and strength. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   I was talking to someone on the phone\nyesterday and they reminded me of a quote they remembered from Roy\nSprague.  He may have got it from\nsomewhere, but it stuck in their mind as being from a retreat that Roy spoke\nat.  \u201cSin will take you farther then you\nwant to go and cost you more than you want to pay.\u201d  I need to be reminded of my \u201cstinkin thinkin\u201d\nand the tricky ways that sin still tries to control me.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Father, thank You for being a loving Father\nthat keeps me from the disaster of my wayward heart and mind.  Forgive me when I think that I know better\nthen the God of the universe.  Please\ncontinue to keep my heart from seeking evil and my ways from leading me to\ndestruction.  I want to walk in Your\nwisdom and way today.  In Jesus name Amen!  Pastor Rob <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
