Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Proverbs 15 \u2013\n4-15-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   This chapter reminds me of the power of the\ntongue to lift and encourage or tear down and destroy.  Many of the verses in this chapter talk about\nour lips, mouth, or tongue.  Verse 1\nreminds me, \u201cA soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.\u201d  I was riding with my wife yesterday and like\nmost husbands doing some backseat driving. \nIt wasn\u2019t long until my voice was raised in fear and frustration only to\nbe reminded that my words were not helping but driving her crazy.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   How many times has a kind soft word brought\nencouragement and peace to your life in a situation where frustration,\ndiscouragement and anger were just a step away. \nThe first couple of weeks of this \u201cstay at home\u201d time we all were taking\non the challenge of doing this for everyone\u2019s good.  You could go shopping and everyone was kind\nand considerate in lines.  Now after\nbeing locked up together for weeks on end and with no end in sight, I find\nmyself being short, impatient and selfish, making comments under my breath\nabout the \u201ccrazy people\u201d that I have to put up with in life!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I find\nmyself speaking and acting like the wicked sinner instead of a child of God.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   In verses 29-30 I am told, \u201cThe LORD is far\nfrom the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.  30  The\nlight of the eyes rejoices the heart, and good news refreshes the bones.  I need the Lord to hear my prayers and many\ntimes my mouth reflects a wicked heart and asking for forgiveness is the first\nprayer the Lord will hear from my lips. \nI really do want to be the person God can use to rejoice others hearts\nand bring the refreshment of good news to their bones.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Father, thank You that You hear my prayers,\nnot because I am such a good guy, but because of the cleansing power of the\nblood of You Son, Jesus.  I need to ask\nforgiveness for the way I allow Satan and sin to control my mouth, mind and\nactions.  Help me by Your Spirit to be\nthe soft answer that can be used by You to bring joy and refreshment to the\nlives of those around me.  May this start\nin my home and extend to those you bring into my path.  In Jesus name, Amen!  Pastor Rob \n<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
