{"id":3142,"date":"2020-04-17T13:37:12","date_gmt":"2020-04-17T20:37:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3142"},"modified":"2020-04-17T13:37:22","modified_gmt":"2020-04-17T20:37:22","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-proverbs-17-4-17-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3142","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Proverbs 17 &#8211; 4-17-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Proverbs 17 \u2013 4-17-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This chapter in Proverbs seems to spend the\nmajority of the emphasis on avoiding strife in relationships and growing in the\nwisdom of when to rebuke and confront, and when to let love cover a multitude\nof sins.(vs. 9) &nbsp;Verses 1-3, talks about\na wise servant who becomes a part of the family by dealing with strife\nappropriately.&nbsp; After all the true Tester\nof the heart is God alone.(vs. 3)&nbsp; We\nmust understand that to justify the wicked or condemn the righteous puts us in\ndeep trouble with the Lord. (vs. 15)&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; My favorite verse in this chapter is verse\n6, \u201cGrandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their\nfathers.\u201d(ESV)&nbsp; If you have\ngrandchildren, you know that there is nothing more precious in our lives.&nbsp; I have pictures to prove this if you need\nfurther proof.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The verses that touched my heart the most\ntoday are verses 27-28: \u201cWhoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who\nhas a cool spirit is a man of understanding. 28&nbsp;\nEven a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his\nlips, he is deemed intelligent.(ESV)&nbsp;\nOuch!&nbsp; These verses remind me of\nmy need to remain silent when dealing with conflict or stress in relationships\nuntil all sides are heard and the truth is revealed.&nbsp; I have a tendency to listen to people in\nstrife and immediately \u201cinstruct\u201d them with my idea of righteous truth.&nbsp; So many times if I had waited quietly for the\nall of the troubled outbursts, the truth reveals itself.&nbsp; I have learned that many times I don\u2019t need\nto \u201cinstruct\u201d or correct others, but if I let them talk and listen to\nthemselves objectively, they know the truth and usually the way to correct\nopens up right before their eyes.&nbsp; I am\nreally not that wise in and of myself, but the Holy Spirit can reveal truth\nwithout my input.&nbsp; I can be a fool and\nthe Word and the Holy Spirit can make others consider my wise and\nintelligent.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, I thank You that by the power of\nYour Spirit in my life, You turn a very foolish man into someone who is deemed\nwise and intelligent.&nbsp; Keep my lips from\nspeaking quickly when I haven\u2019t listened and sought You for wisdom and the\ntruth.&nbsp; May I learn to cover a multitude\nof sins with Your love and forgiveness.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Thank You for my family, and the joy my\ngrandchildren bring into my life.&nbsp; They\nare truly a beautiful crown of glory that I love dearly.&nbsp; I ask You for wisdom in dealing with the\nstrife of relationships that surround us during this time of forced\ntogetherness in our homes.&nbsp; Give me the\nability to act wisely to reduce the stress of strife and the wisdom to correct\nmy own life first and have grace for those who are struggling.&nbsp; In Jesus name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Proverbs 17 \u2013 4-17-20 &nbsp;&nbsp; This chapter in Proverbs seems to spend the majority of the emphasis on avoiding strife in relationships and growing in the wisdom of when to rebuke and confront, and when to let love &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3142"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3142"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3142\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3143,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3142\/revisions\/3143"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3142"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3142"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3142"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
