Proverbs 22 &#8211; 4-22-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Proverbs 22 \u2013\n4-22-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; I love the truthful wisdom of Proverbs as it\nusually gives an understanding of the risk of sinful rebellious behavior and\nthe reward of walking in close personal relationship and obedience to God\u2019s\nwise instructions.&nbsp; It comes down to\nmaking good and right decisions according to the Word of God.&nbsp; Verse 1 starts off, \u201cChoose a good reputation\nover great riches, for being held in high esteem is better than having silver\nor gold.\u201d(NLT)&nbsp; I need to be reminded that\nmy reputation before others and before God is more important then the riches of\nthis world.&nbsp; I am basically a very cheap\nman, and many times my choices are made entirely on money instead of what is\nbest and lasting.&nbsp; I need to be a\ntestimony of how to live for eternity\u2019s values.&nbsp;\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 I am also reminded of how living in \u201ctrue humility and fear of the Lord leads to riches, honor, and long life.\u201d(vs. 4)\u00a0 Right now the Lord has given us an opportunity to touch the lives of our children and grand children. \u00a0Many of you are given the privilege of watching and teaching your kids and grandkids because of the pandemic that we are living in.\u00a0 Never forget that when we teach them to choose the right path of honor, morality, and wisdom in the Lord, that it will remain with them and guide them as they mature.\u00a0 The promise of God\u2019s faithfulness to bring to mind His Words of wisdom and truth to our children is one of the greatest comforts in our lives as parents and grandparents.\u00a0 Teach truth and hold on to His promise!(vs. 6)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0 Why does God take the time to teach us His truth when we tend to ignore, reject or rebel against it?\u00a0 I have honestly wondered why the Lord shows me mercy and grace when I fail to listen and obey.\u00a0 Verses 17-19 give us the answer:\u00a0 <sup>17<\/sup> Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction. <sup>18<\/sup> For it is good to keep these sayings deep within yourself, always ready on your lips. <sup>19<\/sup> I am teaching you today\u2014yes, you\u2014so you will trust in the Lord.(NLT)\u00a0 I love the words, \u201cI am teaching you today\u2014yes, you\u201d.\u00a0 God has specifically chosen to invest His Words of wisdom, love, grace and truth into my life!\u00a0 I should be humbled by this and hold onto and live by His Word.\u00a0 Even when I fail to live by His wisdom and truth, I can see His faithfulness in keeping His promise to love me and guide me with His wisdom.\u00a0 I just need to make the right choice to trust in Him more!\u00a0 Sing right now, \u2018Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, Your wisdom and truth is truly\navailable for me today.&nbsp; I can easily see\nthe rewards of living in the truth of Your Word.&nbsp; Help me today to apply me life to obeying\nYour Word.&nbsp; Forgive me when I choose to\nignore You and suffer the consequences of my selfish sinful behavior.&nbsp; Thank you for Your enduring love and mercy in\nmy life, allowing me to grow and learn to choose You and Your ways.&nbsp;
