Psalms 13 &#8211; 5-11-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 13 \u2013\n5-11-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; What is the hated phrase that comes from\nyour children\u2019s mouths when you are on a road trip, \u201cAre we there yet?!\u201d&nbsp; Translate that into our prayers to the Lord\ntoday, \u201cHow Long\u201d.&nbsp; If I was God I think\nthat I would ban the phrase in our prayers.&nbsp;\n\u201cHow long do we have to wait for an answer from You; How long do we have\nto endure this virus before You bring healing; How long do I have to wait for\nYou to meet may needs; How long until the Lord returns and makes it all\nright?\u201d&nbsp; I have probably left out a few,\nbut you get the idea.&nbsp; The patience of\nGod to listen to my complaints and lovingly hear my whining is beyond compare.&nbsp; You would think that after 55 years of being\nHis child and watching Him work perfectly in His own timing that I would learn\nto wait and trust in Him.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; If I was to title Psalms 13, it would be The\nWhine of \u201cHow Long\u201d.&nbsp; David had to wait\nto become king even though God had Samuel anoint him as the next king years in\nadvance.&nbsp; David\u2019s hearts desire was to\nbuild a temple for the God he loved, but God said no, you have to wait for your\nson Solomon to build the temple.&nbsp; So many\ntimes David had to wait on God\u2019s timing and answer to his prayers.&nbsp; He even pleaded that he might die before the\nanswer came; that his enemies would claim they had overcome him and won because\nof the time it took God to answer.&nbsp; David\npleaded for God to \u201cenlighten his eyes\u201d(vs. 3) so he might understand why it\ntook so long.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The great news is that God does hear, and in\nHis time He answers.&nbsp; Psalms 13:5-6, 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But I have trusted in\nThy <em>loving-kindness<\/em>; My heart\nshall rejoice in Thy salvation.&nbsp; 6&nbsp; I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt\nbountifully with me.(NAS)&nbsp; The Hebrew\nword for loving-kindness has three parts to it; strength, steadfastness, and\nlove.&nbsp; When we begin to trust in the God\nof loving-kindness, we quickly learn that He has been there all along, and\nevery period of waiting patiently for Him is well worth the time.&nbsp; When ever we are stuck in the \u201cHow Long\u201d mode,\nwe need to remember how God has been there in the past and wait expectantly\nwith excitement for His answer to our prayers.&nbsp;\nWhen we do we will find that the Lord has truly dealt bountifully with\nus.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Listen to your heart\nattitude; is it whining \u201cHow Long\u201d or is it waiting with expectation and\nexcitement for God to work His will and way through it all?&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, thank You for Your patient\nloving-kindness; You have every reason to ignore me and kick me to the curb for\nmy whining attitude.&nbsp; Forgive me for all\nthe \u201cHow Long\u2019s\u201d in my prayers.&nbsp; Help me\nto trust and wait expectantly on You when it seems that You have forgotten or\nnot heard my prayers.&nbsp; I put my trust in\nYour loving-kindness and wait patiently for Your bountiful grace and\nmercy.&nbsp;
