{"id":3278,"date":"2020-05-14T16:36:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-14T23:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3278"},"modified":"2020-05-14T16:36:29","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T23:36:29","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-15-16-5-14-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3278","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 15 &#038; 16 &#8211; 5-14-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 15 \u2013\n5-13-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; I had the privilege of being provided by my\nchurch, a Sabbatical trip to Israel in March of 2019.&nbsp; On that trip I witnessed first hand the\nextreme desire of God\u2019s people to be able to worship God again in His\ntemple.&nbsp; Psalms 15 describes this heart\nfelt desire to be able to worship God in His tent on His hill.&nbsp; It also answers the question of who will be\nable to worship God in His Holy Presence.&nbsp;\nWhile in today\u2019s world there is no temple to meet with God and worship\nHim, the real problem in being in God\u2019s presence is not location, but a\nrighteous man.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; We are reminded by this Psalm that only\nthose who live righteously before God can expect to be accepted in His\npresence.&nbsp; In David\u2019s time, you would\nhave needed a sacrifice of a perfect lamb or dove to provide for forgiveness in\norder to enter the temple and worship.&nbsp;\nPraise God, Jesus came as the Lamb of God to provide a way for us to\nhave right relationship and bring worship, glory and honor to God again.&nbsp; Even David did not always meet the standards\nthat are mentioned in this Psalm.&nbsp; Psalms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>15:2&nbsp; He who walks with integrity, and works\nrighteousness, and speaks truth in his heart.(NAS)&nbsp; This is God\u2019s standard, and no matter how\nhard we try, we cannot always meet this standard.&nbsp; The answer is the One Person who lived as a\nman, perfect without sin before God and provided Himself a Perfect Sacrifice\nfor my sin.&nbsp; I stand before God as a man,\ndead to my sin, and alive in Jesus Christ living in me, Righteous by Christ\u2019s\nRighteousness in which I live and breathe.&nbsp;\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The encouragement we have to live in His\nrighteousness, is that when we do, we have the assurance of God\u2019 Presence and\nPromises.&nbsp; When we fail and sin against\nGod, we are convicted of our sin and until we confess and repent, we lose\nfellowship with God.&nbsp; 1 Corinthians\n6:19-20, 19&nbsp; Or do you not know that your\nbody is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and\nthat you are not your own? 20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>For you have been bought\nwith a price: therefore glorify God in your body.&nbsp; These verses remind us that have been bought\nby Christ\u2019s blood and belonging to Him, we need to live our lives in such a way\nas to bring God glory.&nbsp; We can stand\nbefore Him in steadfast assurance and strength by faith in the resurrection\npower of our Lord that enables us to live righteously in Him.&nbsp; Not because I have the ability to be perfect,\nbut His perfect righteousness lives in me.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, thank You that You have provided for\nall those who believe, the ability, right, and power to become Your child.&nbsp; Give me the desire and will to live righteous\nand holy for Your glory.&nbsp; I look forward\nto living for eternity in Your presence.&nbsp;\nIn Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hobart Devotional \u2013 Psalms 16 \u2013\n5-14-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Psalms 16 is a prayer and statement of faith\nthat David had found his safety, refuge and keeping in the Lord.&nbsp; Verse ,2 &#8211; I said to the LORD, &#8220;Thou art\nmy Lord; I have no good besides Thee.&#8221; Verse 5 &#8211; The LORD is the portion\nof my inheritance and my cup; Thou dost support my lot.&nbsp; Verse 8 &amp; 9 &#8211; I have set the LORD\ncontinually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.&nbsp; Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory\nrejoices; My flesh also will dwell securely.(NAS)&nbsp; These verses are like the statements of faith\nand trust in God in David\u2019s prayer and praise to the Lord.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; So the cry of verse 1 is answered by the\nreminders of Who the Lord is in our lives.&nbsp;\nWhen we call out for safety and refuge, we can be assured that all the\nthings that the Lord has done for us will come to mind and we can take solace\nin our Trust in Him.&nbsp; During this time of\nuncertainty and concern, I truly have a God that I can trust in!&nbsp; All the descriptions of this chapter are a\nreminder of What the Lord has done for me, and Who the Lord is to me.&nbsp; \u201cWhen I am afraid, I will put my trust in\nHim.\u201d(Psalms 56:3)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cThou wilt keep him in\nperfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.\u201d\nIsaiah 26:3(KJV)&nbsp; What great reminders of\nHow God keeps our hearts and minds when we trust in Him.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; We can truly trust that God will make known\nthe path of life and bring \u201cfullness of joy\u201d and \u201cpleasures forever\u201d to those\nwho put their faith in Him.(16:11)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, thank You that I can trust in You\nand base my life on Your power, provision and presence.&nbsp; Forgive me when I let the things of this\nworld distract and take away the joy of Who You are.&nbsp; Help me to know that in Your presence I can\nfind joy and look forward to pleasures forever.&nbsp;\nIn Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 15 \u2013 5-13-20 &nbsp;&nbsp; I had the privilege of being provided by my church, a Sabbatical trip to Israel in March of 2019.&nbsp; On that trip I witnessed first hand the extreme desire of God\u2019s &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3278"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3278"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3278\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3279,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3278\/revisions\/3279"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3278"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3278"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3278"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
