{"id":3298,"date":"2020-05-19T18:29:52","date_gmt":"2020-05-20T01:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3298"},"modified":"2020-05-19T18:30:13","modified_gmt":"2020-05-20T01:30:13","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-21-5-19-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3298","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 21 &#8211; 5-19-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 21 \u2013\n5-19=20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm brings about the start of the\nPsalms connection of the Davidic Covenant and the Promise of the King of Kings,\nthe Messiah, Jesus Christ.&nbsp; The promise\nthat David\u2019s throne would be eternal will only be complete when Jesus reigns\nforever in His eternal kingdom.(2 Sam. 7:13-26 \u2013 Psalms 21:4)&nbsp; There are references to David and his\nkingship that recognize that God\u2019s promise is eternal and will be fulfilled by\nJesus.&nbsp; This is why so many details of\nthe Incarnation, the birth of the Savior, are so important to our faith, and\nthe nation of Israel.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp;In\nverses one and two David breaks out in praise and worship for God\u2019s strength,\nsalvation, and answers to his prayers.&nbsp;\nThis sets the tone of thanksgiving and praise, glorifying God for all\nthe blessings as His chosen king. &nbsp;While\nwe are not genetically part of the line of David, we have been grafted into God\u2019s\nfamily by faith and trust in Jesus Christ and we will rule and reign and\nworship in His eternal kingdom.&nbsp; <sup>7<\/sup>\nFor the king trusts in the LORD, and through the steadfast love of the Most\nHigh he shall not be moved. Psalms 21:7&nbsp;\nThis verse makes a statement of faith that David makes as he considers\nthe never ending blessings of the Lord.&nbsp;\nThe first 7 verses are like taking a time of worship to count your\nblessings.&nbsp; This is something that I need\nto remember, especially when the hard times wear my spirit down.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Verses 8-12 tell the story of God\u2019s\nvictories provided over our enemies both now and in the future.&nbsp; Sometimes David didn\u2019t get to see the\nvictories in the timing he desired, but he knew God would come through and\njudge the enemies that came against God\u2019s people.&nbsp; We can have this assurance in our lives, no\nmatter how much it seems that the enemy is winning the struggles and battles\nthe words \u201cYou will, the Lord will\u201d bring out our faith in the steadfast love\nof the Lord in our lives.&nbsp; He will set\nthings right!&nbsp; We can continue our\nworship as David did; <sup>13<\/sup> Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength!&nbsp; We will sing and praise your power. Psalms\n21:13<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, may I never forget that Your\npromises are eternal.&nbsp; When I get warn\ndown by the battles, help me to never to forget that I am part of Your family\nand Your Son will rule and reign forever in Your eternal Kingdom.&nbsp; Thank you for Your presence, strength,\nsalvation and answer to my prayers.
