{"id":3305,"date":"2020-05-21T19:06:28","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T02:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3305"},"modified":"2020-05-21T19:06:35","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T02:06:35","slug":"hobart-herd-psalms-22-5-21-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3305","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd &#8211; Psalms 22 &#8211; 5-21-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd \u2013 Psalms 22 \u2013 5-21-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm is very important to us as\nbelievers in the Lord Jesus Christ.&nbsp; Some\nof the last words of our Lord were quotes of verse 1, \u201cMy God, My God, why has\nThou forsaken Me!\u201d&nbsp; So we continue with\nthe emphasis of the prophetic connection of the songs to the Messiah, King,\nJesus Christ.&nbsp; I don\u2019t know if there are\nany more heart wrenching words ever uttered then these by our Lord as He\nsuffered, for the first time, total separation from the Father.&nbsp; Stop and think of the horror of that\nseparation because of our sin.&nbsp; To think\nthat the Son had never been separated in heart and soul from the person of the\nFather and His purpose and will.&nbsp;\nTogether They had created the universe, together They had formed the\nplan of saving a lost humanity, and together they entered into this plan of\nredemption knowing the cost and pain They would suffer together.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; There were many times in David\u2019s life when he\nmust have felt that God had forsaken Him.&nbsp;\nThe break in relationship with King Saul when he threw his spear in\ninsane anger and jealousy at David, the loss of his best friend Jonathon.&nbsp; The loss of his first born because of his\nadultery and sin with Bathsheba.&nbsp; The\nbetrayal and back-stabbing son Absalom.&nbsp;\nAll of these could have brought forth these words in cries to God.&nbsp; But none can compare to the cry of our Lord\nas the sins of the whole world, my sin and yours were placed upon Him and the\nFather turned His back on that sin.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Praise God this Psalm spends the rest of the\nverses stating faith and trust in God throughout the history of the\nrelationship of God and His people, Israel.&nbsp;\nAs David begins to recount all the times that God has been faithful and\nblessed His people even when they didn\u2019t deserve it, this song becomes a song\nof praise instead of a song of painful woe.&nbsp;\n<sup>27<\/sup> All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the\nLORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. <sup>28<\/sup>\nFor kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. Psalms\n22:27-28&nbsp; &nbsp;Just like the glory of the resurrection after\nthe terrible crucifixion comes the blessed hope that we all have that one day\nwe will see the LORD come in all His majesty and reign forever.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, thank You for giving me that blessed\nhope when everything seems to be telling me that You have forsaken me.&nbsp; I could never understand what it must have\nbeen like for You and Your Son to be separated by my sin. &nbsp;Forgive me for thinking that You would ever\nforsake me after the great price You paid for me.&nbsp; May I always trust in the Hope that I have in\nChrist\u2019s total victory.&nbsp; In Jesus Name,\nAmen!
