{"id":3348,"date":"2020-05-30T20:32:51","date_gmt":"2020-05-31T03:32:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3348"},"modified":"2020-05-30T20:33:01","modified_gmt":"2020-05-31T03:33:01","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-30-5-30-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3348","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 30 &#8211; 5-30-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 30 \u2013\n5-30-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The heading of this Psalm is that this song\nwas used at the dedication of the temple.&nbsp;\nWhile we know that David was not allowed to build the temple of God, he\nwas the one who brought the tabernacle into the city and chose the place that\nSolomon would build God\u2019s temple.&nbsp;\nDavid\u2019s heart was that God would have a house to reside with His people\nand that the people of the world could come to worship and honor the God of\nIsrael.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; As we read these verses we see David extol\nhis God even though God had punished him for his sins, so much so that David\nwas in need of God\u2019s healing both spiritually and physically.&nbsp; Even though David had experienced the\ndiscipline of God\u2019s love and holiness, he never lost sight that God had healed,\nrestored and brought him out of the pit.&nbsp;\nThe key verses are: Psalms 30:4-5, <sup>4&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp; Sing praises to the Lord, O you his<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>saints,\nand give thanks to his holy name. <sup>5&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a\nlifetime.(ESV)&nbsp; Praise the Lord that for\nHis children, His anger is short and His favor, grace mercy and love are for a\nlifetime!&nbsp; I thank God continuously that\nI can go to Him and ask forgiveness and He forgives and cleanses me from all\nunrighteousness.(1 John 1:9)&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This may seem like a strange way to\ncelebrate the temple of the Lord, but what better place than His house to\ncelebrate His faithful love in disciplining His children when they sin, and\nbringing the light of His presence and love back into our hearts as we are\nreturned to right relationship with Him again.&nbsp;\nMay I, like the prodigal son eating the pig slop, be reminded of God\u2019s\nlonging for my repentance, return, and restoration.&nbsp; His anger is short, and His grace, mercy and\nlove is for a lifetime!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, when I enter into worship may I\nalways remember the grace You have given me in Your Son.&nbsp; I am so thankful that Your anger is just for\na moment and I truly don\u2019t fall under Your wrath because of the covering of my\nsin by the blood of Your Son.&nbsp; Not only\nis your favor for a lifetime, but Your love is for all eternity for those who\ntrust in Your Son.&nbsp; In Jesus Name,\nAmen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 30 \u2013 5-30-20 &nbsp;&nbsp; The heading of this Psalm is that this song was used at the dedication of the temple.&nbsp; While we know that David was not allowed to build the temple of God, &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3348"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3348"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3348\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3349,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3348\/revisions\/3349"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3348"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3348"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3348"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
