{"id":3394,"date":"2020-06-09T17:13:56","date_gmt":"2020-06-10T00:13:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3394"},"modified":"2020-06-09T17:14:07","modified_gmt":"2020-06-10T00:14:07","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-39-6-9-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3394","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 39 &#8211; 6-9-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 39 \u2013\n6-9-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Have you ever been totally angry, fed up,\nand discouraged about what is happening in this sinful world?&nbsp; David saw so much of the wickedness of people\naround him that it was driving him to sinful anger.&nbsp; I know none of us are feeling this way right\nnow.&nbsp; In verses 1-3, David tried to just keep\nhis mouth shut, and carry on in the midst of it all.&nbsp; The problem was that his heart just became\nmore and more angry and frustrated, causing him to have a sinful attitude\ntowards others.&nbsp; &nbsp;The answer was to see things from God\u2019s point\nof view by realizing the number of our days in comparison to God\u2019s view and\nplan for eternity.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; I just finished looking at 2 Peter 3, and\nwas reminded that the Lord\u2019s patience with man\u2019s sinfulness meant my salvation in\nthe past and will be the opportunity for others in the future to have the opportunity\nto receive Christ as Savior in the future.&nbsp;\nHis timing for judgment of sin means my salvation.(2 Peter 3:14-15)&nbsp; Our lives are but a blip on the screen\ncompared with the patient love and grace of my Lord and Savior. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In verses 7-13 we see David\u2019s heart change\nto God\u2019s view of things.&nbsp; &nbsp;<sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u201cAnd now, O Lord, for what do I wait? &nbsp;My hope is in you. <sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Deliver me from all my transgressions. &nbsp;Do not make me the scorn of the fool!(ESV)&nbsp; When we put our hope in the Lord we begin to\nsee that we are dependent on the grace and mercy of God for forgiveness of our\nsin.&nbsp; What if we really received God\u2019s\njudgment and wrath ourselves.&nbsp; When we\ncry out for vengeance and judgment on sin we also have to take a close look at\nourselves. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm ends with a prayer for God to\nhear our prayers and not withhold His peace.&nbsp;\nI remember growing up that my Mom could give me \u201cthe Look\u201d that would\nimmediately shut my mouth and change my actions and attitudes.&nbsp; No one could withstand that look and continue\nwhining or back talking.&nbsp; David wanted\nGod to take His eye off him so that he could smile again.&nbsp; None of us can withstand the all-knowing holy\nlook of the Lord and be comfortable in our sin. &nbsp;May I learn to look at others living in sin\nwith the eye of the Savior, \u201cFather forgive them because they don\u2019t know what\nthey are doing.\u201d&nbsp; May I be as gracious\nand loving as the Lord.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, forgive me for my sin of anger against\npeople instead of anger against sin.&nbsp; If I\nreceived justice, I could not stand before Your righteousness.&nbsp; Truly Your patient mercy and grace is\nsalvation!&nbsp; May my hope be in you as I\nview my life from the view of eternity with thankfulness for Your eyes of love\nfor me.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 39 \u2013 6-9-20 &nbsp;&nbsp; Have you ever been totally angry, fed up, and discouraged about what is happening in this sinful world?&nbsp; David saw so much of the wickedness of people around him that it &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3394"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3394"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3394\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3395,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3394\/revisions\/3395"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3394"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3394"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3394"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
