{"id":3425,"date":"2020-06-11T14:21:46","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T21:21:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3425"},"modified":"2020-06-11T14:21:59","modified_gmt":"2020-06-11T21:21:59","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-40-6-10-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3425","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 40 &#8211; 6-10-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 40 \u2013\n6-10-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm is unique in that it starts off\nwith thanksgiving and praise and then moves to a prayer of petition.&nbsp; Psalms 40:1-3, <sup>1&nbsp;<\/sup> &nbsp;I waited patiently for the Lord; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>he\ninclined to me and heard my cry. <sup>2&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp; He drew me up from the pit of destruction, <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>out of the\nmiry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. <sup>3&nbsp;<\/sup>\nHe put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and\nfear, and put their trust in the Lord.(ESV)&nbsp;\nThis is a song of testimony of how the Lord hears our cries and picks us\nup out of the pit of our despair, replacing it with trust and hope in the Lord.&nbsp; David wanted everyone to hear the testimony\nof what the Lord had done for him and fear, reverence, glorify the Lord with\nhim.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; David was known as \u201ca man after God\u2019s own\nheart\u201d.&nbsp; This was not because he was\nperfect.&nbsp; David failed and paid for it\nwith a family that hated him and did not follow the Lord.&nbsp; But David\u2019s testimony was this: Psalms\n40:7-8, <\/strong><strong><sup>&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong><strong><sup>7&nbsp;<\/sup><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Then\nI said, \u201cBehold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: &nbsp;<sup>8&nbsp;<\/sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; I delight to do your\nwill, O my God; your law is within my heart.\u201d(ESV)&nbsp; The secret to our heart seeking the way David\ndid after God is to be in His Word, knowing it, memorizing it, and obeying it\nwith delight.&nbsp; Our hearts need to reveal\nand tell the truth of God\u2019s faithfulness and lovingkindness to us so that all\ncan see His Greatness!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Whenever we see our God for Who He is, we\nthen realize how far short we fall, how sinful we really are.(vs. 11-12)&nbsp; This brings David to petition the Lord for\nforgiveness and deliverance from his sins.(vs. 13-16)&nbsp; Then we are all returned to the heart of\nworship as we celebrate with David God\u2019s love and salvation for all who seek\nHim.(vs. 16)&nbsp; Celebrate today the God who\ncares and thinks of us in our need, providing His help and deliverance.(vs. 17)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, forgive me for not testifying of\nYour greatness.&nbsp; You truly have heard me\nprayers and been my Rock, Fortress, Deliverer, Helper and Savior.&nbsp; May I stay in Your Word, Delighting in You\nand obeying Your will.&nbsp; Thank you for\nhearing my prayers and taking care of my needs.&nbsp;\nIn Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 40 \u2013 6-10-20 &nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm is unique in that it starts off with thanksgiving and praise and then moves to a prayer of petition.&nbsp; Psalms 40:1-3, 1&nbsp; &nbsp;I waited patiently for the Lord; he &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3425"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3425"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3425\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3426,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3425\/revisions\/3426"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3425"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3425"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3425"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
