{"id":3461,"date":"2020-06-16T17:12:47","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T00:12:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3461"},"modified":"2020-06-16T17:12:56","modified_gmt":"2020-06-17T00:12:56","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-46-6-16-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3461","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 46 &#8211; 6-16-20"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd- Psalms\n46 \u2013 6-16-20<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; If you have ever needed words of comfort,\nstrength, and trust in the presence of the Lord, you need to mark, read and\nmemorize this Psalm.&nbsp; Psalms 46:1 God is\nour refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.(NAS)&nbsp; This verse states the doctrinal truth on\nwhich we stand and face whatever comes.&nbsp;\nThe basic truth of God as our refuge, strength, presence, and help, is\nwhat I need most in a world like we face today.&nbsp;\nWhen I am in the midst of the greatest of troubles, it is important to\nreturn to the truth of Who God is, and what that means to me.&nbsp; The key to it all is the Lord\u2019s promised\npresence.&nbsp; This allows us to live without\nthe mind numbing, controlling fear that comes when everything around us is in\nturmoil.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The\npicture given us in verses 4-6 is that of the beautiful city of Jerusalem.&nbsp; This was a place of protection, and presence\nof God in His temple.&nbsp; For the Israelites,\nthis became the premier example of their faith in God, and their trust His\ncontinual presence and protection.&nbsp; The\npromise of God\u2019s covenant with His people is that the throne of David would be\nthe place from which the Lord would reign and rule forever.&nbsp; To this day, the believing Jews are waiting\nand planning for the Lord\u2019s return to rule and reign.&nbsp; This is why the city of Jerusalem is the\ncenter piece of all the troubles in Israel.&nbsp;\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; We have seen God at work to bring an end to\nwars and desolations.&nbsp; I have seen God\nbring peace, comfort, and strength in the midst of the greatest painful and\ntroubling times.&nbsp; So how do I keep this\nheart of trust and faith in the Lord even when I don\u2019t see His presence in my\nstruggles and troubles.&nbsp; Psalms 46:10-11,\n10&nbsp; &#8220;Cease {striving} and know that\nI am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the\nearth.&#8221; 11&nbsp; The LORD of hosts is\nwith us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.
