{"id":3494,"date":"2020-06-27T14:42:02","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:42:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3494"},"modified":"2020-06-27T14:42:11","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:42:11","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-52","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3494","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 52"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 52 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In order to understand the background of\nthis Psalm, you need to read 1 Samuel 21-22.&nbsp;\nThis is the story of David going to the town of Nob, where the priests\nlived and asking Ahimelech the priest for food.&nbsp;\nAhimelech had nothing but the bread from the tabernacle that was\nreplaced daily to give David.&nbsp; So he gave\nDavid the bread and blessed him before the Lord.&nbsp; Doeg, the Edomite witnessed this and brought\nthe word to King Saul.&nbsp; Saul then went\nand had Doeg kill Ahimelech and his whole family and wipe out the town of\nNob.&nbsp; Only Abiathar, a son of Ahimelech\nfled and was saved.&nbsp; He then joined\nDavid\u2019s followers and became an important priest who set Solomon on the throne\nof David when David was on his death bed.&nbsp;\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The first four verses describe the man Doeg\nand his betrayal of David to Saul.&nbsp; He\nwas a man with a deceitful tongue of evil; and a heart that loved evil and\nriches instead of loving God and righteousness.&nbsp;\n&nbsp;Psalms 52:1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man?
