{"id":3499,"date":"2020-06-27T14:43:42","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3499"},"modified":"2020-06-27T14:44:05","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:44:05","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-53","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3499","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 53"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalm 53<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm is almost an exact replica of\nPsalms 14 except it replaces the name \u201cLORD\u201d, Yahweh, with the name God,\n\u201cElohiym\u201d in Psalms 53.&nbsp; Why is\nthis?&nbsp; It may be a different tune played\nto sing it, but it also represents God as having the same message with His\npeople in covenant as \u201cYahweh\u201d (Exodus 6:2-8), and the sinfulness of the people\nof the world as the Supreme Deity, \u201cElohiym\u201d.&nbsp;\nThis is an important truth as we need to understand that while God made\na covenant with His people Israel, He also wants to have a relationship with\nall mankind.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In verses 1-3, we find the fool says in his\nheart that there is no God.&nbsp; We are so\ncorrupt that all of us are totally sinful.&nbsp;\nThese verses are used in Romans 3:9-12 to describe the depravity of man,\ntotally sinful and without hope before a righteous God in our own strength and\nability.&nbsp; \u201cAll have sinned and fall short\nof the glory of God.\u201d(Romans 3:23)&nbsp; David\nis amazed that we seem to never learn our need for God to step in with His gift\nof eternal life through Jesus Christ.&nbsp;\n\u201cFor the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life\nthrough Jesus Christ our Lord.\u201d(Romans 6:23)&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe description is one of the evil ones eating up God\u2019s people and\ndevouring each other as they refuse to call on God.(vs. 4-5)&nbsp; We are reminded that God will crush those\nthat refuse and turn against Him, His People and His Kingdom.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The cry that we all should have is found in\nverse6: \u201cOh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God\nrestores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.\u201d(NAS)&nbsp; We long for the Lord to come and restore His\npeople and set up His Kingdom.&nbsp; Our plea\nis, \u201cHe which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen.
