Hobart Herd Devotional – Psalms 54<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   This is a confident prayer of David that God\nwould deliver him from the hand of Saul. \nIn 1 Samuel 23 we have the story of those who would try to get on Saul\u2019s\ngood side and deliver David into his hand. \nJonathon, Saul\u2019s son, met with David and declared that God had chosen\nDavid as the next king and He would be second under David.  They covenanted together and encouraged each\nother to remain strong in their faith and trust in God.  The Ziphites tried to betray David who was hiding\nin their lands and made a pact with Saul to help him find and kill David.  But as the story goes, Saul was on one side\nof the mountain and David trying to escape on the other side when God sent a\nmessenger to Saul saying that the Philistines were invading the land.  So Saul left the pursuit of David to battle\nthe Philistines.  This is just one\nexample of the many times that God provided an escape and way through for David\nand his followers. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Do I pray confidently trusting God to come\nthrough for me?  When it seems that my\nenemies are winning and I have no way of escape or relief, do I trust in God\nWho is my Help and Deliverer?  David\ncried out to God because of the people that turned against him, but He never\nlost hope in the fact that God can use any and every small detail to bring comfort,\nhelp and strength in every situation. \nThe key verses are verses 4 & 7; 4<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBehold, God is mine\nhelper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.  7  For\nhe hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon\nmine enemies.\u201d(KJV)  Do we really believe\nthat God is our Helper?  Can we thank God\nfor the \u201cJonathon\u2019s\u201d in our lives that bring us encouragement and friendship\nduring our hardest times?  I thank God\nthat He has always provided those that love, support, pray and encourage me in\nthe midst of my hardest times.  I can say\nas David did, God has delivered me out of all trouble and I have seen His\ndealing with my enemies.  I trust in the\nLord to deal with those who are against me and to deal with me if it is my sin\nthat has brought my troubles on me.  I\nknow the God is my strength and help, and I praise Him for the \u201cJonathon\u2019s\u201d\nthat He has provided me.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Father, give me confidence in Your power to deliver\nme and deal with my enemies.  As I look\nat David, I thank you for the example of Jonathon, who was there to encourage\nand uplift David in his hardest hour. \nMay I never forget all the times that You have helped me and trust in\nYou as I pray for Your help and deliverance. \nIn Jesus Name, Amen!  Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
