{"id":3526,"date":"2020-06-27T14:50:33","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3526"},"modified":"2020-06-27T14:50:46","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:50:46","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-57","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3526","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 57"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 57<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; While I was in Israel last spring, I visited\nthe area, the springs of Engedi, where David hid from Saul in a cave and Saul\nentered the very cave and fell asleep with his soldiers.&nbsp; Can you imagine the fear and tension of\ntrying to remain quiet with your men and then sneaking out, cutting a piece\nfrom Saul\u2019s robe and praising God for delivering you.&nbsp; This Psalm has all the emotions and tension\nthat David and his men endured in this story.&nbsp;\nAs the story goes, some of David\u2019s men wanted him to kill Saul and end\nthis life of running and hiding, but David would not take the life of Saul\nbecause he had been anointed by God at one time to be the king.(1 Samuel 24) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In he first 5 verses David calls out to God\nfor His mercy and grace in intervening in this very dangerous and tempting\nsituation.&nbsp; It ends in one of my favorite\nworship choruses in verse 5; Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your\nglory be over all the earth.(NIV)&nbsp; When\nwe cry out for help, we need to remember to worship God and ask that His will\nbe done in bringing glory to God in all the earth.&nbsp; In the midst of the lions trying to devour\nand the net that the enemy (Saul) had spread out to catch him. David continues\nto write this song of praise.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Psalms 57:9-11, 9&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you\namong the peoples.&nbsp; 10&nbsp;&nbsp; For great is your love, reaching to the\nheavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.&nbsp; 11&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Be\nexalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.(NIV)&nbsp; I will remember this situation of extreme\nfear, anxiety and temptation when I sing this chorus again.&nbsp; From the heights of fear in hiding, to the\ndespair of Saul choosing the same cave, to the temptation and encouragement of\nDavid\u2019s men to take Saul\u2019s life and end this trouble, come one of the most\nbeautiful songs of worship and exaltation bring glory and honor to the\nLord.&nbsp; I need to change my heart and\nlearn how to worship and bring glory to God in my tough times.&nbsp; God wants to complete His purpose and will in\nour lives through the worship that comes from my heart as I trust and follow\nHis purpose and plan for me.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In the end of 1 Samuel 24, David calls out\nto Saul and shows him the piece he cut off his robe.&nbsp; He falls on his face before Saul and asks for\npeace.&nbsp; Saul is so touched by David\u2019s\nsaving his life that at least for a short while there is peace in this\ntremendous conflict between David and Saul.&nbsp;\nMay I find peace as I worship the Lord today with a right heart attitude\ntowards my enemies and a view of my Gracious and Merciful God.&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, I\nwant Your name to be exalted over all the earth.&nbsp; In order to do that I need Your mercy and\ngrace in my situations and a change of my heart and mind in seeking and doing\nYour will.&nbsp; I want the whole earth to\nhear of Your greatness and faithfulness in my life.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 57 &nbsp;&nbsp; While I was in Israel last spring, I visited the area, the springs of Engedi, where David hid from Saul in a cave and Saul entered the very cave and fell asleep with &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3526"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3526"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3526\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3527,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3526\/revisions\/3527"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3526"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3526"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3526"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
