{"id":3534,"date":"2020-06-30T13:06:16","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T20:06:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3534"},"modified":"2020-06-30T13:06:24","modified_gmt":"2020-06-30T20:06:24","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-58","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3534","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional &#8211; Psalms 58"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 58<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm starts off with a question for\nthe leaders and rulers of the world.&nbsp; Do\nyou really know what righteousness and justice really is?(vs. 1)&nbsp; Then he continues to condemn and rebuke their\nactions.&nbsp; One version calls them \u201cgods\u201d,\nand many of the surrounding nations and the Godless leaders considered\nthemselves as \u201cgods\u201d and expected to be worshipped and treated as such.&nbsp; The reality was that though they thought of\nthemselves as \u201cgods\u201d, there words and actions were unjust, violent, wayward, deceitful,\nand venomous.(vs. 2-5)&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In verses 6-8 we have the call for God\u2019s\njustice and judgment to fall on these egregious rulers and leaders.&nbsp; The word pictures are stunning as David calls\nfor God to remove their power (teeth), their effectiveness(blunted arrows),\ntheir productive lives(stillborn babes), and their longevity(water vanishing in\nthe sun).&nbsp; The best understood judgment\nfor us is the picture of the slug who dries up in the sun and melts away, or\nlike every kid knows dissolves when you put salt on it.(vs. 8)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The end of the Psalm brings encouragement\nto the just and righteous.&nbsp; God will\nbring justice and vengeance on the wicked and we will see it happen, whether\nnow or in the future of eternity.&nbsp; The\npromise is ours: Psalms 58:11&nbsp; Then men\nwill say, &#8220;Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God\nwho judges the earth.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>(NIV)&nbsp; We can trust that God will bring about\nvengeance and justice and the righteous will be rewarded for trusting in the\nLord. &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, we do call for you to bring Your\njustice and judgment on the wicked.&nbsp; We\nknow that no one has any power accept You allow it for Your purpose and glory.&nbsp; So when we see the wickedness and corruption\nof our leader and world, we cry out for You to make things right.&nbsp; Thank You that we can trust in a God whose\nall seeing eyes can set things straight with justice and righteousness.&nbsp; May we never lose faith in our Faithful God.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 58 &nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm starts off with a question for the leaders and rulers of the world.&nbsp; Do you really know what righteousness and justice really is?(vs. 1)&nbsp; Then he continues to condemn and rebuke &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[142],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3534"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=3534"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3534\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3535,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3534\/revisions\/3535"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=3534"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=3534"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=3534"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
