{"id":3570,"date":"2020-07-07T15:12:19","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T22:12:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3570"},"modified":"2020-07-07T15:12:31","modified_gmt":"2020-07-07T22:12:31","slug":"hobart-herd-devotional-psalms-65","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3570","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotional Psalms 65"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 65<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This Psalm was probably a song that David\nwrote to be sung annually when the people of Israel brought to the Lord the\nfirst fruits of harvest in celebration as commanded by God.(Leviticus\n23:9-14)&nbsp; This was a song of worship to\nthe Lord Who had blessed the land with rain in season and a good harvest for\nHis people.&nbsp; As I look at the blessings\nof God upon our nation and the great plentiful harvests through the years, I\nrealize that we have not given God from our first fruits and worshipped Him for\nall His loving care on us.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; David starts off this Psalm with the\nrecognition of the connection between God\u2019s forgiveness of our sin and the\nblessing of His harvest.&nbsp; We party and\nrevel in the abundance of God\u2019s blessings without ever considering our need for\nconfession, repentance, and forgiveness of sin before our Holy God. We take\nadvantage of God\u2019s mercy and grace without the right response to His forgiving\nlove.&nbsp; We need to remind ourselves of His\nforgiveness that allows us to remain in close fellowship and proximity of His\nblessing.&nbsp; You might say that we need to\nremind ourselves that \u201cyou can\u2019t have one without the other\u201d.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Psalms 65:5&nbsp;&nbsp;\n\u201cYou answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our Savior,\nthe hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas\u201d.(NIV)&nbsp; What a picture of God\u2019s amazing grace and\nlove, that He would bless us with \u201cawesome deeds of righteousness bringing the\nhope of salvation to all the ends of the earth.&nbsp;\nWhat a wonderful Savior, that has reached even me, a sinful man without\nhope and far away from God, through the awesome deeds of righteousness found in\nHis Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.&nbsp; How\nundeserving I am to be forgiven by His wonderful grace and love.&nbsp; May I never forget that His blessings in my\nlife have been provided by my Savior, who brings me forgiving love, and\nabundant blessings.&nbsp; Psalms 65:8&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;\nThose living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening\nfades you call forth songs of joy.(NIV)&nbsp;\nPraise God my Savior that He reaches even me who was far away, but has\nbeen brought near by His Grace!&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Verses 9-13 describe all that God has done\nin bringing about His ordained blessings of rain and enriched soil with good\nseed to produce the abundant crops for His people.&nbsp; The testimony of all that God does for us\nbrings the spreading of joy, worship, and glory that draws others to the\nSavior.&nbsp; May we show a life of humble\nrepentance and forgiveness leading others to our Savior.&nbsp; Our abundant life of blessing should be seen\nthrough the joy and praise for His forgiveness and provision revealing to\nothers our Wonderful Savior!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Father, forgive me for\ntaking for granted Your abundant blessing and provision in my life.&nbsp; Somehow I have come to expect Your grace\nwithout connecting it to my sinful need of forgiveness.&nbsp; May I never forget that Your Son, my Savior\nprovided the atoning sacrifice for my sin.&nbsp;\nI need to confess and repent of my sin so that Your blessings may flow\ninto my life, revealing to all the Wonderful Savior.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!
