{"id":3732,"date":"2020-08-18T15:23:51","date_gmt":"2020-08-18T22:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3732"},"modified":"2020-08-18T15:24:06","modified_gmt":"2020-08-18T22:24:06","slug":"hobart-herd-devotionals-psalms-93-94","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/hobart-community-church.org\/?p=3732","title":{"rendered":"Hobart Herd Devotionals &#8211; Psalms 93-94"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotionals \u2013 Psalms 93<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; The Bible Knowledge Commentary says that\nPsalms 47, 93, 95-99, are called \u201cEnthronement Psalms\u201d or \u201cTheocratic Psalms\u201d,\nwhich simply tells us that these Psalms celebrate the Majesty and Reign of the\nLord over all the heavens, earth and universe.&nbsp;\nIt reminds me of hiking or driving through the Rockies and marveling at\nGod\u2019s handiwork.&nbsp; When we see all that He\nhas created for us to enjoy and then stop and think of this Mighty God reigning\non His glorious throne over all that we can see, it should make us fall to our\nknees and worship Him.&nbsp; He truly is\nclothed with majesty and strength as we ponder His everlasting reign.&nbsp; From before the beginning to after the end,\nHe is the Mighty God, ruling and reigning over all with all glory majesty and\npower.(vs. 1-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Sometimes we forget how mighty our God\nreally is!&nbsp; I remember a few years ago,\nmy wife and I got away to the coast in the fall to celebrate our anniversary.&nbsp; While we were looking out our hotel window\nand watching the waves roll in, a storm appeared in the distance.&nbsp; The clouds became black and the wind came\nup.&nbsp; The waves came rolling in getting\nbigger and bigger.&nbsp; The water sprayed up\nin the air as the waves crashed over the beach and against the rock wall\ncovering our picture window with salty drops.&nbsp;\nThe roar was loud with crashes of waves and thunder, and then all of a\nsudden the power went out for several hours.&nbsp;\nWhen I read verses 3-4 and the description of God\u2019s Might and power, I\nthink of this trip and sitting in the dark in the middle of the afternoon and\nwatching the white caps of the big waves almost glowing as they crashed and\nroared.&nbsp; I need to be reminded\ncontinually the greatness of my God and trust in His love and might.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Psalms 93:5&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Thy\ntestimonies are fully confirmed; Holiness befits Thy house, O LORD,\nforevermore.(NAS)&nbsp; The Lord continually\nconfirms Who He is all around me and I know that He reigns in Holiness as He\ndid in His temple and that reign is Eternal!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father God, may I never forget that You are\nthe Mighty King, Ruler over everything, for all time and beyond.&nbsp; Help me to humbly worship and glorify You\nwith all that I am and all that I do.&nbsp;\nToday I celebrate the fact that You are on Your throne and nothing\nhappens but what You allow it, and it will be used for Your Eternal Kingdom and\nGlory!&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotionals &#8211; Psalms 94<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Today I want God to avenge the\nrighteous!&nbsp; As I see the unjust\nwickedness surrounding me in this world, I just want God to start dealing out\nHis righteous justice on the wicked in our world.&nbsp; Knowing that God is on His throne in might,\npower and majesty, I just want to see some holy fireworks descend on those who\nare abusing the right and oppressing the poor and needy.&nbsp; It should not shock me to see California\nburning up, and the major cities destroying themselves from within.&nbsp; God will not be mocked and not show up in\nVengeance and Righteous Fury!&nbsp; This is\nwhat Psalms 94 is all about.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; This is a prayer for God\u2019s Vengeance to come\nupon the wicked and the enemies of God\u2019s people.&nbsp; Having just declared His Might and Power in\nPsalms 93, the prayer is that God will not wait long to silence those who are\nabusing, murdering, arrogantly proclaiming that God does not see or hear and will\nnot come to the rescue.(vs. 1-7)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is the message we\nneed today: Psalms 94:8-11, 8&nbsp; Pay heed,\nyou senseless among the people; and when will you understand, stupid ones? 9&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  He who planted the ear, does He not\nhear? He who formed the eye, does He not see? 10&nbsp;  He who chastens the nations, will He not rebuke, {even} He who\nteaches man knowledge? 11&nbsp; The LORD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>knows the thoughts of\nman, that they are a {mere} breath.(NAS)&nbsp;&nbsp;\nThe wicked of our nation and world need to realize that God\u2019s mercy and\ngrace will not forget what they are doing and saying right now.&nbsp; God is a vengeful and jealous God.&nbsp; He will not be mocked and in the end, His\nwrath is something that I wouldn\u2019t wish on anyone!(vs. 8-15)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; We can take comfort in our Lord as we face\nthe evil and wickedness being displayed and used on us.&nbsp; Psalms 94:17-19,&nbsp; <sup>17<\/sup>&nbsp;\nUnless the Lord had helped me, I would soon have died. <sup>18<\/sup>&nbsp; I cried out, \u201cI\u2019m slipping!\u201d and your\nunfailing love, O Lord, supported me. <sup>19&nbsp;\n<\/sup>When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and\ncheer.(NLT)&nbsp; Maybe you feel like you\ncan\u2019t take it any more, recognize that the unfailing love of the Lord is\navailable to keep you from slipping into the depressed, angry, bitter, and\nvengeful heart of this world.&nbsp; Trust Him\nto fill your mind with His comfort, renewed hope, and cheerful joy found in\nHim.&nbsp; Psalms 94:22, <sup>22<\/sup>&nbsp; But the Lord is my fortress; my God is a\nmighty rock where I can hide. <sup>23<\/sup>&nbsp;\nGod will make the sins of evil people fall back upon them.
