Psalms 111-113"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hobart Herd Devotional \u2013 Psalms 111-113<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Both Psalms 111 \u2013 112 are acrostic Psalms,\nusing the Hebrew alphabet to help us remember to praise and worship the Lord\ntogether.&nbsp; I don\u2019t know Hebrew, but it\nwould be like singing the abc\u2019s with my grandson in a way that reminds him to\nworship the Lord with his whole heart.&nbsp;\nABCDEFG-Jesus died for you and me, HIJKLMN-Jesus died for sinful men,\namen.&nbsp; OPQRSTU-I believe God\u2019s Word is\ntrue, V&amp;W-God has promised you, XYZ-a home eternally.&nbsp; Oh how important it is to worship the Lord\nwith our whole heart and study His works and His Word, delighting and\nworshiping Him together.(vs. 1-2)&nbsp; During\nthis time when being together has been hard to do, we need to find ways to\ncelebrate, worship, study, ponder and encourage each other together.&nbsp; This may have to happen online, or in small\ngroups, but we need each other!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; In verses 3-7 we worship His glory and\nmajesty because we have seen His righteousness never fails; His wonders reveal\nHis grace and mercy to us; His provision reveals His faithfulness to His\ncovenant with us; His power is revealed in giving and blessing us as a nation;\nHis justice and goodness is revealed by the trustworthiness of His commandments\nand word.&nbsp; There are so many reasons to\nworship and glorify the Lord together that we can never do it enough!&nbsp; I know that I need to be around God\u2019s people,\nin fellowship and worship, in learning and growing, in encouragement and prayer\nfor each other.&nbsp; All of this happens in\nthe Body of Christ as we worship Him in Spirit and Truth together.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; All of God\u2019s works and words are given to us\nin faithfulness and righteousness, and we are expected to worship and obey them\nin faithfulness and integrity before the Lord.(vs. 8)&nbsp; Our worship should resound because of His\nredemption of His children and His eternal covenant of salvation with us.&nbsp; Holy and Awesome is His name!.(vs. 9)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There is a worship\nchorus that is singing in my heart as I read these words, \u201cI Stand in Awe of\nYou!\u201d by Hillsong.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You are beautiful beyond description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Too marvelous for words<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Too wonderful for comprehension<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Like nothing ever seen or hear<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who can grasp Your infinite wisdom<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Who can fathom the depths of Your love<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You are beautiful beyond description<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Majesty enthroned above<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>And I stand, I stand in awe of You<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I stand, I stand in awe of You<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Holy God to whom all praise is due<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I stand in awe of You!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, today I want to worship You with my\nwhole heart.&nbsp; Together with those who\nlove You I want to join and lift my voice and heart in adoration and worship.&nbsp; Thank You for the local body of believers You\nhave given me to join in worship.&nbsp; May I\nnever take for granted Who You are and What You have done for me.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Psalms 112<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; While Psalms 111 concentrates on the worship\nand honor we give to the Lord, Psalms 112 brings out the benefits and blessings\nof those who worship, seek and glorify the Lord with their hearts.&nbsp; When I find great delight in His word and\ncommands, He is able to bless me with the desires of my heart because we are lock\nstep in purpose and praise!(Psalms 37:4-7)&nbsp;\nThe Hebrew for \u201cPraise the Lord\u201d is the word Hallelujah!&nbsp; So as you read Psalms 111, 112, 113, you\nshould say to the Lord, \u201cHallelujah\u201d!&nbsp; In\nthe midst of my struggles in this world, I need to be reminded that my first\nwords to my Lord should always be, Hallelujah!&nbsp;\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; As I read verses 2-4, I am reminded of my\ngreatest blessing on this earth outside of my relationship with the Lord, my\nfamily!&nbsp; I think I am the richest man in\nthe world because of the wife, children, and grandchildren that God has blessed\nme with.&nbsp; Outside of the wonder and awe\nat God\u2019s love in sending His Son to save me, is the wonder of the blessings of\nmy wife and family.&nbsp; While everything is\nnot perfect in our family, I can see the Lord\u2019s hand at work in all of our\nlives.&nbsp; When I am having a bad day, all I\nneed to start the \u201cHallelujah\u2019s\u201d again is to hear the voice of my family,\nespecially my grandchildren!&nbsp; What a joy\nto see and know the love of the Lord at work in the lives of my family.&nbsp; Psalms 112:4&nbsp; Even\nin darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and\nrighteous man.(NIV)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; There are promises of goodness,\nsteadfastness, and security that comes to those who worship the Lord from the\nheart.(vs. 5-8)&nbsp; It doesn\u2019t say that\nthere will be no bad news or problems, but I am reminded that I don\u2019t live my\nlife in fear of the bad news and troubles that this world brings into my\nlife.&nbsp; My heart can remain strong because\nI am trusting in the Lord and laying my life in His hands.&nbsp; How good it is to be able to trust in the\nstrength and security I have in Jesus Christ! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; When I live my life to share and give the\ngifts God has given me to others, He promises to bring righteousness and honor\ninto my life.(vs. 9)&nbsp; I have to confess\nthat I enjoy the vexation of my enemies through the blessings of the Lord\u2019s\ngoodness in my life.(vs. 10)&nbsp; The\ntestimony of a life lived in praise and glory to God drives the enemy crazy.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Father, thank You for the great blessings\nYou have brought into my life.&nbsp; \u201cI\nworship You, Almighty God, there is none like You!\u201d &nbsp;I receive joy from the relationship that I\nhave in Christ, and the blessings I receive are the frosting on the cake!&nbsp; Help my life to be a living testimony of Your\ngreat love.&nbsp; In Jesus Name, Amen!&nbsp; Pastor Rob<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Psalms 113<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; What time is it?&nbsp; It is time to praise the Lord!&nbsp; I needed this reminder as I go through this\ntremulous and troublesome time in our world.&nbsp;\nWhen I learn to praise the Lord in everything, I start to have victory\nover my thoughts, emotions and actions.&nbsp;\n\u201cPraise the Lord, He can work through those who praise Him!&nbsp; Praise the Lord, for our God inhabits\npraise.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp; The chorus of this popular\nsong reminds me that the chains of this troublesome world are powerless to\nthose who continually live in worship and honor of our Great God.&nbsp; His presence is always evident in the hearts\nof praise and worship. (vs. 1-3)&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; Verses 4-6 remind me that there is nothing\nthat compare to my Glorious God!&nbsp; The\nword \u201cexalted\u201d means to be lifted up, raised to the highest plane.&nbsp; When I realize that my God and Savior is\nexalted above and thing, power, or problem, I am able to rise above my own\nproblems and issues.&nbsp; When I think that\nGod stoops to be their for me, I get a picture of how much He loves and cares\nfor me.(vs. 6)&nbsp; The amazing part is that\nHe doesn\u2019t \u201cstoop\u201d to look and laugh at my issues, but He stoops to lift me up\nand out of my sin and shame.&nbsp; As a boy, I\nlearned to hate the fiery red ants that would crawl up my pants and leave big red\nwelts.&nbsp; I soon learned that you could\ntake a magnifying glass and burn and torture these pests.&nbsp; I even would take fire crackers and blow up\nthe ant hills trying to get rid of them.&nbsp;\nWhen God stoops to look at us, He does so with love, mercy, grace and\nforgiveness; always wanting to lift us out of the ash heap of our life and into\nHis presence as His sons and daughters.&nbsp;\nWhen we put our trust in Christ and ask forgiveness for our sins,\nbelieving in His salvation, we become God\u2019s children, joint heirs of our Lord\nJesus Christ.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Psalms\n113:7-9, 7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; He raises the poor from the\ndust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; 8 &nbsp; he seats them with princes, with the princes\nof their people. 9  He settles the barren\nwoman in her home as a happy mother of children.
