March 25 – Proverbs Devotions

Wednesday, 3/25/20

Hi Hobart Herd,

Your Pastor is going insane with not getting to see you and be around you.  So for my spiritual sanity and yours, I am going to start my own devotional series and send it out via the church web site (hobart-community-church.org) and my Facebook page, email, and message lists.  This may give you some insight into the life of your pastor.

A Bible school professor gave me advice for gaining wisdom and sanity by reading one chapter in Proverbs every day.  It is easy to keep track of where you are as there are 31 chapters, one for each day of the month.  Since Proverbs has a lot of little one or two verse thoughts, it is easy to focus on something new even after all these years.  God’s Word has a way of pointing out just what I need as I wait on His Spirit’s guidance and wisdom. Say a short prayer asking for His wisdom and guidance, and see what the Holy Spirit has for your heart today.

Today is March 25th, so I read Proverbs 25 and these verses caught my heart and thoughts today.  Proverbs 25:11-12, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.  Like a gold ring or and ornament of gold is a wise reprove to a listening ear. (ESV)

I am reminded today that I need to let the Lord lead me in being that sweet voice of encouragement, comfort, peace and yes, even reproof to those that He places in my path as Divine Opportunities.  Today as I communicate with others via phone call, Facebook, email, or any other means, I want to be used to bless others with my words and attitude.

Lord, guard my lips and my thoughts.  Take control of what I say so that Your Holy Spirit can use me to bring Your encouragement, love, comfort and strength to those You bring into my life today. Amen
