Hobart Herd Devotional – Proverbs 2 – 4-2-20

This passage talks about the benefits of seeking the wisdom of God in your life.  A lot of the verse start out with “if you” with verse 5 telling us the promise of God, “then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.  Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.”  The Lord is always there for those who seek Him!

The promises of verses 6-8 are what we are all looking for in our relationship with the Lord.  Proverbs 2:6-8, “For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of His saints.”(ESV)  These promises can be yours today if you seek Him first in your life.  Oh, that I would have His wisdom in all the decisions I make today and every day.  I need the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that comes from His great storehouse, the Word of God.  I need to have His wisdom to walk in integrity that will shield me from the tricks and temptations of this world.  Thank you Lord for watching out for me and guarding my heart and life as I see to walk in Your wisdom and ways.

Father, I thank you that if I truly seek You, You are there for me.  I need Your wisdom in my life more now then ever before.  The simple tasks of each day require that I know Your wisdom, plan and ways.  Your loving wisdom allows me to walk in Your righteous ways so that Your integrity, understanding and justice go before me.

Thank You for watching out for me, guarding me from the mistakes of my own wisdom as I seek You first.  In Jesus name, amen!  Pastor Rob
