Rob and Ruth’s Story

As many of you know, Ruth has been recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and returned to their home in Hobart on Feb 12th for hospice.  This all happened very suddenly and caught everyone but God by surprise.   Now, as we strive to carry one another’s burden in the church, one of their children has set up a link to “Meal Train” which is a way for others to supply meals in their time of need.  This is a link to “Meal Train” where you can select an open date and make a commitment to provide a meal for them.  Additional information is on the site.  Use the link here to be redirected to the Meal Train site.

Additional Bio about Rob and Ruth

Pastor Rob Morris has served the Hobart area for over 23 years.  He was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, and lived the first 16 years around the Bighorn Mountains of North Central Wyoming as a pastor’s kid. The family moved to Montana in 1974 and Rob graduated from High School in Seeley Lake, Montana in 1975.

Rob attended Prairie Bible Institute of Three Hills, Alberta, (80 miles northeast of Calgary). He graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education degree with a minor in music in 1979. During his senior year at Prairie, he met the love of his life, Ruth (Smoker) Morris and they were married on October 13, 1979. God has blessed them with 3 children, Rick, Ryan, and Rachel, and a beautiful granddaughter, Lianna.  They were blessed to be able to live in the Pacific Northwest and raise their children in the Hobart/Maple Valley area.

Over the 40+ years of ministry, Rob, Ruth, and family have served 5 churches, helping to plant and serve rural churches in Northern California, Montana, and Washington with N.I.C.E. (Northwest Independent Church Extension), the church planting ministry of the Pacific Regional Conference of the IFCA International.  Rob felt God’s call to serve rural churches and areas of the Northwest where there are struggling churches or help plant churches in areas where there was no Evangelical Gospel Preaching ministry.

“I love the independent nature of the rural people and have seen God work bringing many to Christ as Savior, and growing to serve Him faithfully. It is great to have been in this community for almost 24 years as I am now getting to see the fruits of labor in the lives of the children that the Lord has brought to Himself over the years.  Getting to watch them grow, marry, and have families of their own. Seeing them raise their families in the Lord is a great blessing in my life.  I hope to be able to meet you personally, and share the wonderful truths of God’s Word with you.”
